That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Our Story

By: Mack & Mitzi

We began ministering to inmates in 1992 through a leather mail order business. It was at that time an inmate from La. wrote to ask for Spiritual guidance. I responded to him by telling him “You can be free no matter where you are if you are in Christ”.

We were encouraged to hear that he began studying his Bible and began working as the Chaplain’s Assistant, staying in that position for nine years. Later, we heard from a man who had been incarcerated for 30 years, was being paroled, but didn’t have a place to go.

We were able to help him with a place to stay. It was during this time that we felt a calling on our lives to minister to the incarcerated. The scriptures guiding us were Matt. 25:35-40; 2 Cor.5:17-21; and Heb. 13:3

After retiring in 1998, Mack & I (Mitzi) and a friend (Phyllis) started to minister at the County Jail in Palo Pinto, TX., this was in March of 1999. And “Free Life Prison Ministries” was born. God has sent Christian brothers and sisters to minister along side us with a current team membership of 15. Two of which are former inmates.

As two friends were chatting on the phone, just wondering how to reach more people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Heather & I discussed the possibility of a newsletter, and the “Free Life News” was established in 2000, starting with 100 copies.

The newsletter was created for redeemed inmates to write their testimonies of faith to those who have not yet come to Jesus in faith. ( The inmate from La. wrote the first article)

To date we mail out 3500 newsletters quarterly, to various Prison Chaplains across the country, and numerous inmates and their families, and many churches and most recently on the Internet.

We are thankful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His sweet salvation and call on our lives to serve Him by serving others. We are thankful for the many blessings he has bestowed on us through our team members and various churches that support Free Life.

We minister Free Life Ministries and Free Life News through Immanuel Baptist Church, for which we are thankful.
